The Cost Effective Alternative To Replacement

A Guide to Spray Painting Your Kitchen Cabinets

Spraylords are a professional paint spraying company offering a service for spray painting kitchen cabinets to domestic customers / homeowners within the East Midlands in the UK. We specialise in kitchen spraying, in fact it makes up a huge amount of the work we do for our customers.

In this article we will briefly outline our kitchen spraying processes, this will give you an idea of what we do and why it’d done the way it is.

There are various stages involved in spray painting kitchen cabinets, which are outlined below:

1) Cleaning & Degreasing Doors & Drawer Fronts

Before any spraying can be done it is important to thoroughly clean and degrease all the doors and drawer fronts. This ensures that the paint will adhere properly and gives a better overall finish. We can also repair any minor scratches and scuffs at this stage prior to spray painting.

2) Removal of doors and drawer fronts

In order to get a really good coverage and avoid any overspray, it is necessary to remove the doors and drawer fronts before spray painting kitchen cabinets. We will then take these away to our purpose built spraying booth where they will be expertly sprayed using professional paints and spraying equipment. All door hardware including hinges and handles are also removed prior to spraying.

3) Masking off surrounding areas

In order to protect your surfaces from any paint or dust, we will mask off all the areas around your cabinets. This includes ceilings, floors, worktops, splashbacks etc… Anything that doesn’t require a new paint colour being applied.

4) Setting up ventilation equipment

As with any paint spraying it is essential that proper ventilation is in place prior to spraying, not only will this protect our team from fumes but also help to prevent paint smells from travelling throughout the rest of your home. It also minimises paint particles in the air which reduces overspray. We use professional / industrial extractor fans whilst spraying indoors, fumes are safely ventilated out through the extractor fan’s trunking out side of your property.

5) Spraying doors and drawer fronts in a purpose built spraying booth

Spraylords have a purpose built spraying booth at our Unit in Long Eaton, Nottinghamshire. This booth allows us to professionally spray your cupboard doors in a dust free environment. Before spray painting kitchen cabinets, all doors and drawer fronts are carefully removed from your kitchen units, protective wrapping is applied for transit back to our unit.

6) Spraying of feature panels in situ

Not all parts of your kitchen requiring a new spray paint colour can be removed, these are usually feature panels. In this case we fully mask off all surrounding areas and spray them in situ, without the need for removing them.

7) Reinstalling doors after spraying

Once the doors and drawer fronts have been sprayed in our booth, after the paint is fully cured and dried we will carefully package them up again ready to transport back to your property. Once at your house we will unpack each door and carefully reinstall them, replacing any door handles as we go.

8) Tidying up and removing rubbish

After we have finished spray painting your kitchen cabinets, the final stage is to tidy up and remove any masking materials and rubbish. This ensures that your home is as clean as when we started. We will take away all packaging and rubbish with us when we leave.
